dyinglight

Firearms (also known as Guns) are a type of weapon; a gameplay element featured in Dying Light.

In general, Firearms are initially rare in the early game, resulting in them not being expected to appear in abundance. Firearms allow one to engage enemies from a distance, avoiding the risks of up-close melee encounters. While they are undeniably helpful, the sound of gunshots easily attracts infected, especially Virals. Ammunition is a scarce resource, and can usually be found in stores.

Prior to the Enhanced Edition update, there were three types of firearms available in the default game with two variations of each type, excluding the shotgun which only has one variation. In The Following, three new types of firearms were added, as well as new variants for the existing three types. Due to the main DLCs coming out Techland has made blueprints that can change the appearance of guns. Some of the DLCs include White Death and Wild West.

Rarity

Firearms can be found in key locations within the Slums of Harran and are nearly in abundance in Sector 0. When one gets to a high enough level (usually Level 15+ Survivor), firearms will begin to appear in stores for very high prices.

After one obtains their first firearm, it is especially risky to use it outside as the sound of the gunshots attracts infected, leading to combat encounters that are difficult in the early game. However, firearms may be especially useful for dispatching large enemies from a safe distance, such as Goons or Toads.

Cut Firearms

A number of guns were cut before the game's release; the following is a list of these weapons, and whether or not they still exist in the game files to be re-added to the game. Most guns have fake names.
